Mitchell Pearlman is a Lecturer in Journalism at the University of Connecticut, and currently serves on the Board of Directors for both the National Freedom of Information Coalition and the Connecticut Foundation for Open Government. From 1975 to 2005, he served as executive director and general counsel for the Connecticut Freedom of Information Commission. In 2005, he was named Executive Director Emeritus.
Mr. Pearlman has lectured worldwide on Freedom of Information issues—China, Armenia, South Africa, Mexico, Denmark and France—to name a few. The Council on Governmental Ethics Law, a professional organization committed to ethics in government, awarded Mr. Pearlman with the organization’s annual “Service Award” in 2004. He was the first Freedom of Information advocate to receive the honor.
