If you’re a subscriber of The Boston Globe, here is a quick and simple way to help the New England First Amendment Coalition advocate for open government and freedom of information:

169As a subscriber, you will be receiving, or have already received, in the mail a voucher provided by The Boston Globe through its annual GRANT program. Seven-day newspaper subscribers will receive vouchers valued at $100 and all other subscribers will receive vouchers valued at $50. These vouchers can then be mailed back to The Boston Globe with the name of a non-profit. Those organizations with the highest amount of donations will be given free advertising in the newspaper.

Please consider supporting New England First Amendment Coalition through this program. The advertising space would help us educate thousands of readers about the importance of open government and the First Amendment.

It would also help us inform others of the work we do, which includes:

Annual Awards Luncheon This event honors individuals who are advancing the First Amendment and the public’s right to know. This year’s luncheon honored retired federal judge Nancy Gertner and featured the family of slain journalist James Foley.

First Amendment Institute Each year we host a three-day investigative reporting workshop for 25 New England journalist fellows. It provides editors and reporters with the support and training necessary to become accomplished investigative journalists, well versed in the access laws that govern today’s difficult reporting landscape.
