About the New England First Amendment Coalition | NEFAC is a growing 501(c)(3) non-profit non-political organization that advances the five freedoms of the First Amendment and the public’s right to know about government through education, advocacy and defense. Position Description | The Fundraising Associate will report to the Executive Director and be responsible for securing funding for the organization’s existing programs through direct support, sponsorships, grants and other funding opportunities.

Start Date | Immediate.

Location | Primarily remote. While it’s expected that most work can be completed remotely, there may be occasions where in-person meetings and networking are required to successfully fundraise for the organization. The organization is based in Massachusetts, but the scope of its programming and services is generally regional.

Position Responsibilities Include

• Identify and secure sponsors for existing programming, including the New England First Amendment Awards, 30 Minute Skills, NEFAC Mentors, the NEFAC Report and the FOI Guide.
• Identify, cultivate and solicit new Major Donor ($2,500-$9,999) and Leadership Donor ($10,000+) prospects.
• Lead all grant writing efforts, including the research of grant opportunities and the production of written materials, reports and proposals.
• Generally assist the Executive Director in other areas of fundraising.

Requirements | The Fundraising Associate position requires a proven track-record of securing major gifts and grants. The position requires a strategic thinker with the ability to lead fundraising initiatives and advocate for the organization’s programming and mission. Self-motivation, creativity, strong writing and communications skills are required. The ideal candidate will also have knowledge of the journalism industry and personally value the freedom of the press, other First Amendment freedoms and the right of citizens to government transparency. The ideal candidate will have at least five years of non-profit fundraising experience.
