George Geers

George Geers is a longtime newspaper and publishing veteran. Mr. Geers began his newspaper career at Foster’s Daily Democrat, where he started as a Northeastern University intern – eventually becoming managing editor of the paper. Mr. Geers left Foster’s to become executive editor at The Southbridge (Mass.) Evening News, and was later named editor of The Chronicle in Willimantic, Conn., and The Telegraph in Nashua, N.H.

The founder of Plaidswede Publishing—a Concord, N.H. publishing company that specializes in New England fiction and non-fiction—Mr. Geers is also the Executive Editor of the New Hampshire Writer’s Project and the New Hampshire Press Association. The clerk of the Academy of New England Journalists and a founding member of the New England First Amendment Coalition, Mr. Geers was presented the Academy of New England Journalist’s Yankee Quill award for lifetime achievement in 2005.
